Dear Julia Guillard, PM,

It has come to my attention that there is a gas fired power station under planning development in NSW that will service expected electricity grid peak loading shortfalls. There is a vast array of technologies that are either on the market or under development (and many partially funded by government grants) that can reduce electricity grid peak loading phenomena. One such technology that is under development is called a solar thermal air conditioning system. Dr. Mike Dennis at the Australian National University (among other researchers) is pioneering this technology in Australia. I suggest you find his number from the ANU staff directory. Give the bloke a call, I'm sure he would love to have a chat about ways that the money could be better spent to reduce current and expected future peak energy loading on the electricity grid.

Regards

Tom R. Cochrane BEng (Hons)

As a nation we are beginning to have to invest in the next 50 years worth of energy generation infrastructure. lets get it right and have renewable energy in the mix. Secondly lets put some effort into fixing the broken electricity market which currently provides no incentive to consumers to reduce their demand on real peak events, the ones which actual lead to developments like this being proposed

The days when Gas and Coal were needed to power our communities are over. We have moved into the renewable age. Why would we destroy the livelihoods of a community, devalue their lands, pollute the atmosphere, compromise water security and contribute to climate change for an unwanted and unnecessary venture?

We need less fossil fuel power stations, not more.

I intend to build a house and live in Jerrawa, 18km from this power station.

I don't want to see this power station go ahead. All it will achieve is further dependence on natural gas rather than moving toward renewable energy, poor health effects for the local community and greater profits for AGL.

Lets turn up the volume of the voices of Dalton. They don't want this! give them something they can be proud of and the chance of employment, health and a healthy environment. Give them renewable energy.

We have a responsibility to stop unnecessary polluting. It is important that we look to cleaner technology which is aleady available for large-scale electricity production. We should be putting in nuclear plants instead of fossil plants at this level of energy production.
