I attend St. Ignatius Loyola School and I feel that a bike lane would be unsafe for my piers and I.

I am opposed to the proposed bike lane on 84th street. I am concerned with the safety of the school children who have drop off, recess and dismissal on that block. Namely, St. Ignatius Loyola School on 84th between Madison and Park.

My daughter is a kindergartner at St. Ignatius Loyola Grammar School, and she has a 4 year old brother who will join her there in a year and a baby brother who will join her there in 4 years. For my children, and all the children at St. Ignatius Loyola, I am deeply concerned about risk to their safety that the proposed bike lanes will bring. We all know about the sad incidents where people are injured and in some cases killed due to a bike accident. Just the other day, I was nearly hit by a biker going way too fast even though I had the right of way crossing the street, which was terrifying. For St. Ignatius, this is particularly important because the kids use the street during the school for many things: they queue up on the street before they enter the building to start the school day, the use the street to play at recess, they use the street when we pick them up at the end of the day. Bike lanes would put all of those sweet children at risk.

As a devoted family to the community in the Upper East Side, we hope you can keep our appeal top of mind as you evaluate this.

Im signing this because my children attend SIL on E 84th and these bike lanes will jeopardize their safety.

I am signing because I am concerned about the safety of the children as well as the bicyclists who are at risk of being injured given that this street is highly- trafficked by children of all ages as that there is a school on 84th and Park. There is an environmental benefit to encouraging the use of bicycles but this must be weighed against the cost of potential injuries especially to young children.

My children go to school at st Ignatius Loyola. A bike lane on this block will be dangerous and disruptive to their school activities and the rest of the students that go to school here

Our daughter is a 1st grade pupil at St. Ignatius Loyola School on E 84th St. A bike lane on 84th has the potential of endangering the pupils at the school when they assemble in the morning, during recess and at dismissal. Many bike riders today do not follow traffic rules and ride bikes in a reckless way.
