Bramhall & Cheadle Hulme are against Stockport MBC raise in car parking charges.

This petition had 1,480 supporters

Stockport MBC is proposing to increase car park charges across the borough. The current 20p for an hour will go up to 50p for two hours. Car parks which are currently free will also start to charge at the new rate.

We believe this will have dire consequences for our areas and will affect business, residents and community groups in Bramhall & Cheadle Hulme.

It will make life even more difficult for our traders by sending people to out-of-town shopping centres, and on-street parking will become more problematic. Charging for parking at railway stations will put people off using the train and lead to more car journeys, greater congestion and more pollution.

Car parks in Bramhall & Cheadle Hulme that will be affected

  • Bramhall - Village Square
  • Bramhall - Meadway East
  • Bramhall - Meadway West
  • Bramhall - Bramley Close
  • Cheadle Hulme - Mellor Rd
  • Cheadle Hulme - Station Approach

We believe that these proposals to introduce charges would be detrimental to the local economy and it will also increase the number of cars parked on surrounding residential streets. We are want to encourage people to shop local and support the local community.

The free car park at Bramhall railway station is not only for rail commenters but for Bramhall Health Centre, Bramhall Library and the Bramley community centre.

There is a council meeting on Tuesday 19 December 2017 at 6pm at Fred Perry House, Stockport and the car parking strategy in on the agenda -

So lets show the Council the strength of feeling against these changes and sign the online petition.
