Dianne Polasik started this petition to Stillwater Schools Community

We, the Stillwater Schools Community consisting of students, families, individuals, district staff, partner organizations and businesses are asking the Stillwater School Board to follow established policy and protocol in hiring a superintendent. They should follow district policy 303, requiring an established process for hiring. This board made a promise to all of us in June 2020 when interim superintendent Malinda Landsfeldt was hired that a process involving the community would be followed when the interim contract ends in June 30, 2021. That is 5 months away. There is no need to rush.

We ask the Board to establish that superintendent hiring process. The community wants and deserves the time to identify the qualities they want in a superintendent, time to seek qualified candidates(which Malinda Landsfeldt will certainly be), time to allow for consideration of diversity, time to participate in interviewing candidates and making recommendations to the board. To rush this through in a 1-2 week process as proposed denies all opportunity for the community to be involved and reduces the hiring process to a lame duck board vote and a 3 year superintendent contract negotiated solely by Board Chair Stivland.

Again we urge this board to establish a superintendent hiring process that involves our community and allows time for that process to happen.
