Problem
People are sexually assulted every day. Cases are not reported because of a lack of education. Many times the person who carries out the sexual assault is uneducated as well.
Solution
Help us convince the Board of Education to incorporate consent education into middle school curriculum by signing our petition.
We believe that if people are educated, the sexual assault problem will decrease.
Personal story
I am an 8th grade student attending Herbert Hoover Middle School in San Francisco. The first time I was sexually assulted, it was Halloween in 6th grade. I reported it and they didn’t do very much. This was when I found out I had depression. The next time I was sexually harrassed I reported it again. Even less was done this time than before. Since then I have been assulted and harassed a couple times. At this point I stopped reporting the cases to the school because all it did was cause more stress. If we educate others on sexual assault and consent, these problems will be taken more seriously. Please help us change rape culture.
