All cell phones sold in Canada to be equipped with velocity-dependent disabling technology

Distracted driving has become epidemic. Texting and driving has been identified as a significant contributor to motor vehicle accidents and current legislation aimed at reducing the extent of this problem has proven ineffective to date. It’s time we put pressure on our elected representatives to mandate that all cell phones sold in Canada be equipped with velocity-dependent disabling technology. It is critical that cell phone users NOT be able to disable this blocking function as is the case currently. The sooner this happens, the fewer the number of future innocent motorists who won’t make it back home to their families. The technology to do this exists and now is the time for our governments to take a firm stand on this problem. Please sign this petition to help us make a difference. I have attached a link to an article published in the United States several years ago and which remains topical today. Thank you.
