Stop Chris Christie from defunding poor schools in NJ.

This petition had 30 supporters

Chris Christie wants to pass flat funding to ALL NJ students at $6599 per child. This proposal will decimate poor districts and towns in early 2017.

For example, Paulsboro's school funding will be cut by 5.2 million dollars. That is equal to 42 administrative and teacher positions....or almost an extra $4000 for each resident in property tax every year.

Your support is needed to put a different plan in front of the Governor that will fully fund every school district at 100% over the next 5 years. Formula 4 Success is the solution that will fairly distribute funds for the socio-economic disadvantaged and Special Needs students.

Every school district in New Jersey deserves to be 100%, fully funded.

When it comes to public schools in New Jersey – it’s that simple.

Almost a decade ago, New Jersey created a school funding formula that made sure every child had access to the education they needed to live up to their fullest potential.  Since then Governors of both parties have failed to fully fund the formula, shortchanging school districts and cheating kids across the state.

Under the plan proposed by Senate President Steve Sweeney and Senate Education Committee Chairwoman M. Teresa Ruiz, that cheating stops once and for all.

The plan creates the “School Funding Fairness Commission”.  A six-member panel of experts who will create a plan, factoring in a wide array of criteria, to return full funding to every New Jersey school district within 5 years.  Lawmakers will face an up or down vote on the plan.

No gimmicks, no tricks, no politics.

The bottom line is, for years the true opponents of fair funding have tried to divide New Jersey into groups – those who have versus those who don’t.  That time is over.

The future of public education in New Jersey is one where every school is fully funded and every student has the tools they need to succeed.  This bill makes that future a reality.

Please sign this petition so that our legislature will put this policy to vote.
