Our children need to go back to in person classrooms. They have the unheard voices during this pandemic. Distance learning is not going to work. It does not work for children, staff or parents. The children's mental health is being severely impacted by isolation and lack of engagement.

We have younger students who need hands on learning. Just imagine a 5 or 6 year old entering Kindergarten, they are not going to comprehend distance learning. They need to be in school, with peers, learning fundamental life skills that can not be taught online. We have children on an IEP who need in an person learning environment. Not only is online learning detrimental to their education but to their mental well being. "Schools provide more than just academics to children and adolescents. In addition to reading, writing and math, children learn social and emotional skills, get exercise and access to mental health support and other things that cannot be provided with online learning. For many families, school is where kids get healthy meals, access to the internet, and other vital services." https://www.healthychildren.org/

It blows my mind that casinos are open and our children can not go to school! Nevada's is currently ranked 37 out 50 in the United States for education. Clearly Las Vegas has its priorities mixed up. Our children need this, it is not an option anymore. Distance learning is not going to suffice.

Parents who work can not be expected to sit with their children 8 hours a day in front of a computer to help their children learn online. Working parents are struggling trying to figure out how this will even work with their schedules. Some are quitting their jobs just so they can stay home because they have no other option. Their households are being negatively affected from this decision that has been made for them.
