Protect the Affordable Care Act

Louisiana has made big advances in getting our families and communities better access to health care. Over 580,000 Louisianans are currently benefiting from coverage through the Affordable Care Act (ACA), including 374,000 who are now covered by Medicaid Expansion. All of that could be jeopardized if Congress votes to repeal the ACA without a replacement plan. Real lives are at stake, and the stability of our health care system and economy are at risk.

Amidst a serious budget crisis, Louisiana stands to lose $27 billion in federal funding for Medicaid, CHIP, and financial assistance for Marketplace coverage. On an individual level, 171,000 Louisianans will lose on average $360 per month in financial assistance that they receive to help with their coverage. Without this support, these people will no longer have affordable coverage options.

Your health care shouldn’t be a political football. If you have a pre-existing condition, used copay-free preventive health care services, received coverage through Medicaid expansion, or lower premiums with financial assistance, you are likely already aware of this threat to your care. But even those who haven’t benefited directly from health form will be impacted. Repealing the ACA without a comprehensive replacement plan will throw the health insurance market into turmoil.

Sign the petition below to tell Louisiana Congressional leaders not to gamble with your health care. Louisianans deserve a health care system that works for all of us, not a system thrown into chaos. No repeal without a replacement plan - our lives depend on it!
