Whether people accept it or not, E-Sports are quickly becoming mainstream. E-Sports teams around the world are becoming common names among internet culture. However, E-Sports, as a recreational activity, is still widely unrecognized among schools and school systems. This, in turn, means that most schools don't have E-Sports teams, and the ones that do have E-Sports neglect them, with only a small selection of games that few people play. Most "school-sponsored" teams use a service called PlayVS. PlayVS only has a few games, including Overwatch, Rocket League, League of Legends, Overwatch, Smite, and Fortnite. Most of these games aren't actually played by school teams. There isn't much reason not to, but they just don't. Overwatch, one of the most well-known games for competition and teamwork, isn't allowed in most schools. We've received multiple reports from students that if they allowed games like Overwatch, among others, they'd probably join, but the thought of Smite alone deters them from joining. We demand that schools start allowing the good games already among the PlayVS service to be played, as well as schools push for other great games that promote cooperation to be added to the service.
