On Saturday, July 6, 2019, I was with my family riding the MBTA's Red Line when we noticed a woman named Bosnia having a full-blown panic attack when she missed her stop (South Station). Bosnia was carrying a boatload of stuff and when my family got off at the stop we needed to (Park Street) we had her get off the train with us and had another man help her offload the belongings she had with her. However, Bosnia was still enduring her panic attack when we got off the train, freaking out about needing to get home to her kids, and so my dad went to find a staff member who could help her - but at Park Street there were no staff working whatsoever. This isn't even the first time MBTA customers have needed the assistance of staff members and have found none working. Although my mom was able to calm Bosnia down and get her on her way to where she needed to be, I have one simple thing I wish to ask for from the MBTA and the people who run it: that every platform at all MBTA stations be adequately staffed at all times that the system is operating. If all the station platforms are adequately staffed at all times (for example, having at least two staff members at larger stations), situations like what happened with Bosnia on that day are far less likely to happen in the future.
