My daughter was brutally raped while sleeping over at her friends house by her friend's older brother. She reported the horrific incident to the Leawood police department, and went to the hospital right after. The perpetrator was charged with Rape and then 10 months later, the case was dismissed. During this horrific nightmare we were left in the dark most of the time. There was zero Victim ADVOCACY at the DA's office. Less than 1% of rape victims ever see justice for this horrific crime due to our failed justice system. Now the Rapist continues to terrorize our family with social media posts. Rape victims are brutalized by their rapist, and then our criminal justice system. Its time for a change. We must stand together and protect sexual assault victims.There is a systemic issue within our justice system. Every 68 seconds an American is Sexually assaulted and every 9 minutes it is a child. WE NEED TO DO MORE!!!!
