Alastair "Ali" Brownlee (14 April 1959 – 14 February 2016) was an English radio broadcaster best known for his coverage of Middlesbrough F.C. on BBC Tees from 1982 onwards. His connection to the club earned him the honorific "Voice of the Boro". Ali was, and still is, loved by Boro fans that grew up listening to his infectious commentary, often delivered through rose tinted glasses, due to his pure passion and love for the Boro!
Boro fans are asking Middlesbrough F.C. Chairman, Mr. Steve Gibson, to rename one of the stands at the Riverside Stadium "The Ali Brownlee Stand" in his memory . If this is not possible, the alternative proposed is to provide a (safe) standing area at the front of the North and/or South stand(s) and still name it the "Ali Brownlee Stand".
Please provide your support to this campaign so that we have in place a fitting tribute to a man that was a big part of Boro Fans lives for so long. #UTB #StandForAli #itsintheblood
