Overdose Awareness Day - UTAH aims to honor the lives lost to overdose and reduce the stigma associated with substance related passing of our loved ones. From May 2019 through May 2020, the nation had over 81,000 overdose deaths which is a 10% increase from the prior year! In 2018, Utah alone had 437 which is 437 too many. The remaining 2020 stats will be on the rise as we faced the uncertainty of the pandemic.  Those in recovery could not attend meetings, those looking for help were turned away because beds were full, facilities closed, and support was minimal. Unfortunately, they turned to their using community, resulting in the cycle of active addiction and increased overdoses.  As our numbers continue to rise, so will our overdose death rate. Please help us be the voices of those that are no longer with us. Let us lower that flag to half-staff, just for one day, their day.

Please help us support the bill in honor of our loved ones by declaring August 31st,  Overdose Awareness Day and lower our flags across the state to half-staff in remembrance of all those lives lost in Utah to this epidemic.

We need to unite, state by state and as a country to reduce and end the stigma!

Please join me in petitioning the great State of Utah to designate August 31st of each year as Overdose Awareness Day - UTAH!
