Approve a Bill of Rights for Montana Foster Parents

Approve a Bill of Rights for Montana Foster Parents
Why this petition matters
Montana Foster Parents fall under the umbrella of Child Protective Services with the Department of Public Health and Human Services. While under this umbrella, Foster Parents are pulled in many directions, and they often feel that they are losing themselves in a system that needs reformed.
Foster Parents are asking for a Bill of Rights that help them meet their needs. This Bill includes the right to be treated as a member of the team. Freedom from discrimination or retaliation. Empowerment to make daily living decisions for children in care. Support of building relationships between biological parents and foster parents. The right to receive training. The right to speak to caseworkers and be a participant in the planning for the children in their care. These are just a few things parents are asking for.
A bill was introduced in the past and passed the House, but the bill was unable to pass the Senate. Foster Parents are speaking out and saying, "We want more for us and the children in our care. We deserve better treatment for ourselves, our families, and those families in which we serve."
