The Safer Campus Task Force has gone back and forth between tiers numerous times, and the student body is becoming tired of it.  Covid is not going away; there will always be another variant.  The members of the student body that have signed this petition recognize the need for safety within a campus community amidst Covid and it’s variants, but also recognize a need for personal liberties and an increase of mental health from the removal of masks.  The members of the student body that have signed this petition do not wish, in any way or form, to infringe on a person’s choice to wear a mask if they desire, but simply request the freedom to choose for themselves.  Personal identity and freedom has always been an important value of Stetson University, and we want it back.  In addition, across most college/university campuses, mental health is a ever-increasing concern, and masks have not helped the situation with a dramatic decrease in personal identity and emotional awareness.  Again, we do not, in any way or form, want to prevent anybody for wearing a mask or insult them for wearing one, but simply want the freedom to choose for ourselves whether we wear a mask or not.
