Why this petition matters

Update: Stetson University has opened an internal investigation. The perpetrator of the hacking has not been found as of yet. We still want an external investigation to take place. Below is an email template link and we encourage all supporters to send it to President Roellke, Board of Trustees, Stetson President’s Cabinet Members, and former President Wendy Libby. Thank you for your support!

On June 23, 2020, Stetson University held a panel discussion named "Let's Talk Racism." Within the first few minutes of the Zoom conference the meeting got hacked with a video displaying the beheading of a Black American. The perpetrator of this hack should be held accountable. It has been two weeks since this horrible incident and Stetson University has yet to acknowledge that it occured. We demand that Stetson University conducts an internal and external investigation to catch the perpetrator of this hate crime. Stetson University has an obligation to keep its students safe. Taking immediate appropriate action would be an opportunity for our administrators to practice what they preach and show that racial justice is a Stetson value.
