Universal Access to Kindergarten for All Australian Children

Universal Access to Kindy SA is a community group concerned with ensuring kindergarten remains accessible to all children in South Australia.
The proposed No Jab, No Play policy set to be introduced in SA is misaligned with the incredibly well-researched value of kindergarten.
Every child in Australia is promised 600 hours of early childhood education in the year before school through the National Partnership Agreement on Universal Access to Early Childhood Education.
Children who will be impacted by this policy are;
- Children of parents who conscientiously object to vaccines (i.e. have beliefs, attitudes and concerns that cause them to reject or delay some or all vaccines)
- Children who are fully vaccinated but recording error has resulted in them being falsely classified as not up-to-date on the Australian Childhood Immunisation Register (ACIR), and
- Children who are late for their vaccinations for a range of practical and logistical reasons related to access or disadvantage.
It is unacceptable that children, who have no say in their vaccination status, should have their development and education detrimentally impacted by this policy through exclusion from kindergarten.
We are urging the South Australian Government NOT to coalesce vaccination status with access to education in our state.
No Jab, No Play can remain a strong policy and achieve increased vaccination coverage in our state without disadvantaging bright young South Australians on the doorstep of their education.
Please sign our petition if you agree that it is critical for kindergarten to be removed from the scope of No Jab, No Play exclusions in SA.
