Kevin Ryan started this petition to Stephen Ross

Good day, Mr. Stephen Ross! Did you ever notice that the more we tweak our logo, the further we go astray from our winning tradition? Someone forgot to mention to the Miami Dolphin brass back in the day “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”!

My words come to you today from the mindset of a true diehard fan, someone who is not quite old enough to bask in the “Glory Days” of our championship seasons. My first realistic memories come from the mid-seventies and a playoff loss to the Raiders with Kenny Stabler’s “sea-of-hands” floating duck game-winning pass [and I remember crying my eyes out like the little kid that I was!].

And I cheered like it was a playoff game, in 2007, when Greg Camarillo took a short pass and turned it into a 64-yard touchdown, in overtime against the Ravens, and our team avoided the embarrassment of a winless season!

And in-between there was the legendary contributions from Don Shula and Dan Marino!

One thing I always felt I had was the knowledge that I knew who my team was and what they looked like. And then came 1997 and I had to endure a cartoon version of my team’s logo.

But it gets worse; the 2013 version through the present is a passive floating dolphin that is quite unpopular. Ever since it’s arrival, I have made it my focus to see just how many fans really like this logo, and it is simply not popular. In fact, when the logo was first leaked, it was juxtaposed to another very sleek design:

The feedback in favor of this logo, and against the current logo, was overwhelming in the comments section of the article [that link is no longer available or has been changed].

Still, as much as I like the Jason Villanti design, I am going to defer to one of our three original logos visible during the sixties, seventies, and eighties, as I have found these throwbacks to be the most favorable among our fan base.

In my last poll, 75% preferred the throwback logo to the current [25%]. I also stumbled onto this website, which had some interesting results:

https://sportslogohistory.com/miami-dolphins-primary-logo

Their current results as of March, 2019:

1] Miami Dolphins Primary Logo 1966 – 1973 /50 Votes (10.89%)

2] Miami Dolphins Primary Logo 1974 – 1989 / 46 Votes (10.02%)

3] Miami Dolphins Primary Logo 1989 – 1996 / 159 Votes (34.64%)

4] Miami Dolphins Primary Logo 1997 – 2012 / 132 Votes (28.76%)

5] Miami Dolphins Primary Logo 2013 – 2017 / 46 Votes (10.02%)

6] Miami Dolphins Primary Logo 2018 – Present / 26 Votes (5.66%)

There is a very important distinction one should qualify in regards to these results. 1, 2 and 3 are nearly the same exact concept with only a slight variation, and could be combined, while the same could be said for 5 and 6. I submit that the results should then be amended to read [with numbers being rounded off].

THROWBACK LOGO / 56%

CARTOON DOLPHIN / 29%

CURRENT LOGO / 16%

I could go on, but I believe the point has been made. There is a strong sentiment to go back to the Throwback and that the current design is not a popular one. Please change the logo back, Mr. Ross.
