As a female Doctor Who fan, I've seen 11 incarnations of The Doctor that have all been male. It's time for a female doctor -- after all it's 2013. Stephen Moffitt and the BBC need to catch up to the 21st century by making the 12th doctor a woman.

There is no reason why The Doctor -- a gender neutral moniker -- should be male in every carnation. It’s clearly possible for Time Lords to switch genders when they are reincarnated. When the Doctor woke up in Smith’s body, he patted down his legs and face to get a feel for his new form, and he confirmed that he was a male by grabbing his … Adam’s apple. It's also clear that female Time Lords exist (River Song, for example).

However, for 11 seasons we've had male doctors and (mostly) female companions that have ranged from fairly strong, admirable, and multi-dimensional to convenient props that are only around for The Doctor to have something to save from peril.

In all of space, time, and the universe, surely there is a female body The Doctor can wear. Let's make the 12th Doctor a woman!
