All throughout the Steiner Ranch community, residents have been recently inundated with letters from our HOA citing their front yard children’s swings as a violation to community rules and requesting their removal. As a family-oriented community with an overwhelmingly large number of children, many community members feel perplexed and betrayed by this sudden call to action by our HOA. Some residents have had swings in their yards for many years and have never received such a complaint until recently.
     As members of this community, we believe in promoting outdoor activity, exercise and play for our mental and physical well-being. The outdoor yard swing has been a long-standing, harmless tradition in many American neighborhoods for over a century. In an increasingly digital world where children and adults spend countless hours in front of screens, the good old-fashioned front yard swing is a welcome respite from our increasingly sedentary, screen-based lifestyle. It encourages adults and children alike to get outdoors and enjoy nature together, especially amidst an extremely difficult time when families have been confined to self quarantine during the COVID-19 pandemic.
     In conclusion, we believe our front yard swings are a sign of a healthy, family-oriented community and add to the quality of our lives and our children’s lives. We kindly ask that you remove the citations relating to all yard and or tree swings and refrain from issuing any future citations relating to this matter.
