Change birth registration forms in Alderney to include same sex parents!

We ask that on registering a birth in Guernsey or Alderney, that the form used should include all types of parents, including same sex couples.
We are a gay couple living in Alderney and already have a 4 year old born in Australia registered with ‘Mother and Mother’ on her birth certificate. The form allowed for this with no hassle or question.
With a new baby on the way in November this year we’ve discovered that despite the current momentum of same sex marriages and adoption catching up in the islands to equal rights - the birth certificates/registrations have not yet followed suit.
So our new baby can only have the birth mother (me, Rachel) listed as the mother and Cat (the biological mother) cannot appear on the form at all. She has the option of adopting her own child or waiting until the law is changed and retrospectively applying (the States say this will happen within 12 months.)
Or we have seriously considered going to give birth in the UK where the forms are all up to date and have been since 2009, thus registering our child in the UK but at a great cost to us as we won’t fall under NHS funding.
A simple form change to include Mother and Mother or Father and Father is all we are asking!
Please sign so we can forward this petition to the States to show that the people of Alderney support equal rights for all!
