Why this petition matters

Started by Kelly Smith

The Air Carrier Access Amendments Act of 2021 was created with the intent to protect the rights of passengers with disabilities in air transportation. Although this bill was introduced to congress in March of 2021, it still has yet to be passed.

We ask for your support on this bill because of the importance to protect the rights of passengers with disabilities in air transmission.  Some of the barriers to travel that these individuals face include damaged assistive devices, inaccessibility, delayed assistance, poor treatment of service animals, inadequate disability cultural competence, and lack of suitable seating accommodations. All passengers with disabilities should receive prompt and effective boarding and deplaning, accommodations, and better access to all airport facilities.

It is often thanks to both the public and legislation that important acts like this reach a larger audience and further advocate for individuals with disabilities. Legislation is necessary for the modernization of standards and requirements that will strengthen accessibility in air transportation. The passing of this bill will help ensure equality for all individuals in the context of air transportation.

Thank you for your time and help. Please consider signing this petition and sharing with a friend, colleague, or neighbor.
