Jake Seehaver started this petition to State of Wisconsin

The child support system is so broken in Wisconsin. The rant I’m about to go on has nothing to do with my baby mama, she’s been as fair as she could possibly be. I have joint custody and 50/50 placement yet I pay the max of 17% per kid all because of having state insurance when he was born. So to put that in perspective, I would pay the same amount if I never had my son. So if you think about it his mother and I have the same costs of living and costs of day to day raising our child. But fathers have none of the resources mothers get, for example WIC( Women Infant and Children) which provides food and formula. I have no problem helping pay for needs of my child while he is at his mothers and honestly she has helped me a lot. But the fact that when a baby is born to unwed parents the father has no legal rights to placement or custody but has full financial responsibility. Growing up I always heard “Wisconsin is a mothers state” and I’ve found out this is true. It’s time for Wisconsin to be a child’s state! Just to be clear I fully support child support for parents who aren’t involved! I’m asking the state of Wisconsin to reform the child support system, kids need their fathers more than a weekly payment!
