SB8 is an egregious infringement of health rights of women across the state of Texas and beyond. Do not allow mysoginistic leaders to dictate what we are allowed to decide to do with our bodies.

Protect 12 year old girls from incestual rape. Protect your sisters- mothers- co- workers from draconian laws that do not allow the decision to be made in cases of rape- incest- health matters i.e. pregnancy that can cause the death of the mother…. And many other reasons to abort. 

At the moment- any citizen can report to a website anyone they THEY THINK is aiding an abortion. This includes my husband- who drives me to Planned Parenthood every three months to get my birth control. Anyone sitting in their parking lot can photograph our license plate and fill out a form on a website- and drag us into court accusing me of aborting- having no information- and no access to my health records.

it then falls TO ME to prove my visit- ask my healthcare provider to break HIPPA Laws and release my healthcare records- to prove in a court of law that I was in fact, not having an abortion. 

This new law incentivizes residents of Texas to sue their neighbors- friends- family- for up to 10k per case- so if some activist sees me pulling into Planned Parenthood for birth control, they can ruin my life- drag my name through the mud- simply because I went to an establishment that used to perform abortions. 

It’s also a war waged against women’s rights. If men were required to get a vasectomy- a completely reversible procedure- until deemed mentally and financially stable enough to have children- this wouldn’t even be a discussion.
