This is my sister Katherine Jeannie Nichols. She has Cerebral Palsy. I am currently fighting with the State of Tennessee and TennCare to keep her in the nursing facility she has been in for the past two years in Celina, TN. They are claiming that she is mentally ill and needs to be placed in a group home. This is not true. They are doing this to try to save money. She is not able to walk, hold her head up or feed herself. Her food must be prepared right or she could choke to death. She can still talk and is in her right mind.
She is treated very well in her current nursing home. The staff there knows how to care for her. Unfortunately, if she is placed in a group home, we do not know what will happen to her. She will be residing with people that can get around on there own and potentially harm her. If someone was to try to hurt her, she can not defend herself.
She has always been a happy person. Recently, we lost our father. Since this time she has not been doing well. She was hospitalized and we thought we were going to lose her. She is strong and recovered even when the doctors didn’t think she would. She is sad about our dad, and now they are trying to kick her out of her home. She should not have to worry about be kicked out of her home.
Please share this and get the word out. It is not fair that she be treated like this. We need to work together to defend people like her who can not fight for themselves. Thank you! - Carol Justice

Allow Katherine Jeannie Nichols to stay in the nursing home and not be moved to a group home.
