Ginger Zuck started this petition to State of Tennessee Board of Parole

On March 25, 1985, Jerry Carpenter, ID#00119565 robbed and brutally murdered Myrtle Chapman at her place of business, Myrt's Package Store in Knox County, Powell, Tennessee.  Jerry Carpenter attacked Myrtle Chapman striking her numerous times to her head with a roofing hammer.  Pathologist autopsy reports proved that she received approximately ten deep lacerations to her head and face, her skull was crushed,.  Although Carpenter admits that she died after the first few blows, he continued to strike her.

Carpenter stood trial before a court and a jury of his peers and received a "Life Sentence" for First Degree Felony Murder.  Due to the Laws of 1985, he is now eligible to apply for Parole every three years.  All that we can do as the "Victims" of his crime is ask for signatures to oppose his release, or  "personal impact"  letters be sent to the Parole Board asking that his release to be denied.

Myrtle Chapman is my Mother and I have one brother, and he has one child.  We have lived over 34 years without our Mother and her grandson who is now 26 never got to meet his grandmother.  The murder of Myrtle Chapman has impacted so many lives and her community because she was so loved and respected.  Our entire family is serving the "Life Sentence" that Carpenter caused by his violent, brutal and selfish act and now we must endure going through his parole hearing every three years hearing over and over how he murdered our Mother.

Our family and friends are asking for help to keep Jerry Carpenter in prison where he belongs serving his "Life Sentence" that he was given by a jury and the State of Tennessee Courts.  Carpenter being incarcerated is the only justice we have for the life of our mother, Myrtle Chapman.  She at least deserves that!

Please sign this petition to help us maintain justice for our Mother, Sister, Grandmother, and friend.  Letters can be sent to the State of Tennessee, Board of Parole, Parkway Towers, Suite 1300, 404 James Robertson Pkwy., Nashville, TN  37243.  Reference #00119565, Jerry Carpenter.

Thank you
