Matthew Brown started this petition to State of Maine Government

The Maine Legislature passed the direct care worker act to increase the pay rate for “all” direct care workers. However, this does NOT include DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONALS. The increase includes; Personal support specialists, home health aids, private duty nurses, and others who cares for others in their homes. Direct Support Professional are defined as; people who work directly with people with physical disabilities and/or intellectual disabilities with the aim of assisting the individual to become integrated into his/her community or the least restrictive environment. So how do Direct Support Professionals not fall under this pay increase!? Direct support professionals are just as important and work just as hard as other care professionals. Not to mention that most Direct Support Professional workers in the state of Maine are at minimum wage already with very little pay increases to begin with. I created this petition to try and get workers the same pay increases as all other direct support professionals. This is not to say other care workers are not important. This is to remind the government that ALL care workers are important in this difficult time. So please share and sign this petition!
