Herman Townsend at age eighteen, charged with murder. Under house arrest during the court proceedings, two years. Convicted at twenty, ineffective counsel, failed investigations into serious leads. Failed to have important witness on Herman's behalf testify, evidence that would have perjured States main eyewitness. Witness viewed Herman in a lineup stated"I know Herman from school, he wasn't the shooter." Questioned several times, Herman is not shooter. Few weeks later, due to a conspiracy, he changed his story. Serving a 55 year sentence for a crime he did not commit, during his earlier years of incarceration he became rebellious. Accumulated 35 more years for aggravated assault peace officers. More time than murder conviction, he has been in Segregation over 19 years. Served fourteen years Tamms Correctional designed for sensory deprivation, no human contact, due to the depravity, inhumane conditions, Governor Quinn shut it down. His family has not hugged him in over 20 years. Sign this petition for Re-Trial, shorter sentence, or time considered served. His family has been severely affected, his son had to grow up without his dad. Herman deserves a second chance.
