If it’s such a great day for health care in America then why did I just lose my insurance?
Hi my name is Nick. I am 11 years old and I was born with half a heart. I have had a lot of open-heart surgeries and one day I’m going to have to get a new heart.
I have the greatest dad in the whole world. And I wish I could spend more time with him, but he works almost every day of the week to give me a nice home and keep me healthy. You see I also have Celiac Disease and have to eat a gluten free diet. My mom doesn’t help with child support or medical bills at all. We never get to go on family vacations. Now that the state has cancelled my insurance, I’m afraid I’ll spend even less time with my daddy because he’ll have to work even more to pay my medical bills.
We don’t live in a mansion but we have a nice home in a nice neighborhood. I go to a good school where I have made some really good friends. If my doctor bills get too high we might have to move to a different place, and I really don’t want to lose my friends.
I want to know why a program called All Kids is not available to ALL kids? We aren’t asking for free healthcare, just good healthcare that is affordable. Dad says the coverage is good but because he makes too much money I am no longer able to have it. I just don’t get it. Why am I being punished just because my dad works so hard to give me a good life when other kids get healthcare and their parents won’t even try to go to work? If anyone knows someone else like me please find a way to get hold of me. Maybe SOMEONE will listen to us.
