Alison Owen started this petition to State Legislature

We, the citizens of Arizona, petition to the State Legislature, to repeal House Bill 2131.  House Bill 2131 was passed by Arizona state lawmakers in March 2016.  House Bill 2131 restricts Arizona localities such as grocery stores, retailers, and restaurants from imposing prohibitions and restrictions on single-use plastic bags.

We, the citizens of Arizona, believe House Bill 2131 needs to be repealed.  Prohibiting cities from banning plastic bags is not environmentally conscious.  In fact, since House Bill 2131 only calls for “voluntary” recycling programs, most cities spend about $1million a year to remove plastic bags from the equipment designed to separate various items.  The other side will argue that prohibiting the banning of plastic bags is not good for business or individual rights.  However, recycling programs that reduce the use of plastic bags benefit all taxpayers and businesses.  A cleaner, healthier environment effects us all.  If we continue contaminating and polluting our planet with plastic bags it will affect our planet, animals, the food chain, humans and therefore; individual rights.

By signing this petition, we are petitioning to the Arizona State Legislature to Repeal House Bill 2131. Allow Arizona cities and communities, grocery stores, restaurants and retailers to BAN the BANNING of PLASTIC BAGS.
