Dolsy David started this petition to State Government and

ONE SIGHT, one sight is what hit me hard and I decided that it's time for a CHANGE. While on my way to the store one day, I saw parents dropping off their 2 or 3 year old kids to school early in the morning on a Saturday. Even 2 and 3 year old kids are being denied their right to enjoy a fun childhood and are sent to school even on a weekend.

Schools in India work 6/7 days per week and offices work 6/7 days or sometimes even 7/7 days a week. Other than schools, kids are also weighed down by tuition classes which is an emerged trend in our country now and kids have to study for 7/7 days in a week for long hours. Although metro cities like Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad may have big corporate firms and schools that work for only 5/7 days a week; smaller cities and other places in India are reeling under the excruciating long working weeks, be it schools/colleges or offices.

Such demanding working days and working hours has given rise to various anxiety and stress related disorders among students as well as the workforce of our country. As of 2015, 42.5% of corporate employees suffer from DEPRESSION in India. The rate of anxiety and depression among corporate employees has gone up by 45 - 50% between 2008 to 2015. Whereas, every 1 in 4 school/college students aged 13-15 suffer from depression, 8% adolescents suffer from anxiety and other anxiety/stress related disorders.

The following link will provide an insight into the above stated statistics:

While countries like New Zealand are working towards establishing 4/7 working days trend for workplaces; USA is working towards establishing 4/7 working days pattern for schools and some states like Colorado have even implemented this trend.

These countries are adapting and warming up to these changes because they have accepted that this has proven to bring about a rise in productivity and health in both students and employees and will help them bring about better results in terms of both education and jobs.

While in India, we are NOT asking for a 4/7 working days scheme, but we are ONLY wanting a 5/7 working days scheme, so that parents get to spend time with their kids and that kids may get to enjoy their childhood/teenage days and get to discover and hone their talents and skills. Only such discovery and honing of skills and talents will give rise to diverse career choices for kids and eventually help our country break stereotypes and help kids be accomplished while at the same time satisfied with their future jobs and occupations.

PLEASE SUPPORT THIS CAUSE AND THIS PETITION IF YOU DO FEEL LIKE YOU NEED A BREAK AND YOU WANT ONLY 5/7 WORKING DAYS EVERY WEEK, because everyone needs time to relax and recover.
