Teachers go above and beyond their "normal" job requirements each and everyday.

They deserve to have a healthy safe work environment and our children deserve the same.

Politicians puting re-election/profit over teachers, children and families.

Teachers should be the FIRST IN LINE when making reopening plans for schools and have their concerns met and their safety and health be top priority! Our schools where we live were just reopened in a red county with cases above 5%. Dr. Birk even recommended not reopening in these counties and our governor "BILL LEE" doesn't listen to our Doctors or even Dr. Birk that had just visited our state and met with our governor! Comparing our teachers to meat packers and industrial workers is rediculous, as our white house press secretary Kayliegh McEnany just recently did! THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION IS DESPICABLE!! OUR CHILDREN ARE NOT PRODUCTS BEING MANUFACTURED, THEY ARE PRECIOUS HUMAN BEINGS AND ARE THE FUTURE GENERATION OF OUR NATION! Teachers are already underpaid and overworked, and now their health is being put at risk also! We have students here in SMALL CLASSROOMS with 20+ kids in them and NO MASK MANDATE! Recently they also passed a plan where TEACHERS ARE CONSIDERED CRITICAL ESSENTIAL WORKERS and they are being asked to ASKED TO TEACH AFTER BEING EXPOSED TO COVID AS LONG AS THEY ARE ASYMPTOMATIC!! What the hell is wrong with our goverment when they put our most precious citizens "OUR CHILDREN" at high risk!!

As a retired teacher my heart goes out to the current group of teachers who must deal with the possibility of their students becoming ill or of their own health and those that the exposure of others. A classroom is a closed off space, often too full of students and their desks. To add spacing is not possible in many buildings. There must be more discussion of how to open and how to manage the day plus a real acknowledgement of the local cases and the local communities rates of infections and deaths. We owe our children more consideration and the best way to do that is to allow teachers more say in the discussion.
