Spouses get paid started this petition to Your State Congressman.

Right now we have a huge problem with home health care. There are just not enough good people to care for people who are disabled and cannot care for themselves. The average wage for a home health care worker is 10.00 an hour. You just don't get good help for that amount of money unless the person is not doing it for the money. In Pennsylvania, any family member can be allowed to be paid except the spouse. The spouse is the one doing most of the care and should be paid as well. Now I am not talking about short term disability. I am talking about cases where one or both spouses are permanently disabled and on Medicare or Medicaid. There are cases where the one spouse can walk and the other can't. The only choice is to have full care for 50 hours while the spouse works. After that, the Spouse can come home to care for his/her Spouse for another 80 hours a week. Medicaid will not pay for 24/7 care at home in the long term. They will only pay if the Spouse temporarily is unable to care for the Spouse. Long term care for disabled persons usually happens in a nursing home. We need to band together and contact our State representatives and senators to have the law changed.
