Study's have shown by the year 2050, there will be more plastic per pound in the oceans than fish. Single use plastics such as straws are some of the biggest contributors to this problem. The City of Starkville should ban food purveyors (including grocery stores, convince stores, restaurants, delicatessens, cafes, and food trucks) from selling and providing single use plastic straws to patrons, and instead should provide environmentally friendly alternatives to customers. This simple commitment will be a meaningful step towards protecting nature for future generations to use.
