The Stansbury Park community is in need of a dog park. Many dog owning residents are looking to provide exercise, socialization, and enrichment in theirs and their dogs lives. This can easily be achieved through a designated space.

There are many benefits that come with a dog park to both pet parents and non owners alike. Some of those benefits include:

  • A safe space to allow dogs to play and run without interfering with other citizens activities at public parks.
  • Reduced noise and destruction problems in neighborhoods. A bored dog is a naughty dog. A tired dog is a good dog.
  • Allowing dogs to socialize with other dogs and humans in a controlled environment promotes safer interactions in other aspects of life.
  • Likelihood of public parks being littered with dog defecation is greatly reduced, increasing enjoyment for adults, children, sports teams, and pet owners.

The solution is fairly simple. With development happening at a rapid pace in the Stansbury Park community, a large designated space can be allocated to the Parks and Recreation department to allow for a dog park. The requirements for a safe space for dogs are minimal. A fenced grassy area with a double gate to allow for safe, escape free entry, and a dog poop station would meet residents needs. Space for a canine to adequately stretch out their legs and really run is roughly the space of a soccer field.

Those who sign this petition do so to show support of a public, free use dog park within the Stansbury Park community. We hope to work together to make this the best neighborhood possible for all members, two and four legged together.
