Standardize 7X7 Format for All NC RTP Area Throwball Tournaments

Standardize 7X7 Format for All NC RTP Area Throwball Tournaments

The Issue

The rules for the game of Throwball are set by the International Throwball Federation. The rule book can be found here: https://www.throwballindia.in/Rule%20Book%20TFI.pdf

ITF clearly states that the game is played between 7 players on either team. In fact, it goes on to emphasize that “A match is considered invalid if there are less than 7 players on either side of the court” (page 13).

There has been an uptick in the number of players joining the sport in the United States and the game is getting extremely popular. Most tournaments in states other than NC are following the standard format of 7X7 in their Throwball tournaments. The sorry state of affairs in the NC RTP area is that some organizers insist on conducting tournaments in the 6X6 format.

The cons of the 6X6 format include but are not limited to:

1) Fewer players being allowed on each team and hence not getting an opportunity to belong to teams

2) Confusion in the rotation process

 3) Lack of a dead zone (which is a quintessential part of the game)

4) Difficulty in playing, let alone winning, out of state tournaments

 5) Players in the RTP area with winning potential being robbed of the opportunity to win and shine at national level tournaments

This is a petition to demand the reinstatement of the official rules of Throwball in all the future tournaments in the NC RTP area. Now is the time to act and save this beautiful game of THROWBALL from deterioration!
