The City Council, along with help of the Public Safety Director, have decided that the Guadalupe Fire Department is not worth paying for and have threatened turning the department into a volunteer department in hopes of saving money. 

What does this mean for you?

• 911 Response: If the City dismantles the fire department, volunteers may not be available. This means it could be 15-20 minutes for another fire department to respond!
• Quality of Service: Fulltime fire staff has specialized training, advanced degrees, intense professionalism, and guarantees 911 service 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week.
• Volunteer Department: Volunteers may or may not be available and have the bare minimum certifications. They will also be working for $5/hr and have to keep working other jobs just to pay THEIR bills.
