COVAC has been serving the community since 1955. In 2013 COVAC separated from the Town and became a private Ambulance Service for the community with no funding from the Town or Village. COVAC's only funding was by billing for services and the generous donations made by the community. COVAC has seen a drop in volunteers especially over the past couple years due to COVID and have hired additional EMT's and Drivers to help with coverage. In June of 2021 the Town Of Cornwall entered into contract with COVAC and provided some needed financial help in the amount of 10K a month which we use mainly towards payroll. In January 2022 COVAC had a meeting with the Town and Village regarding COVAC's service where a new contract was not signed and has been month to month. Since January COVAC has added more staffing which has brought our response numbers up. COVAC has had an average of 94 to 98% calls covered since January. The goal to this petition is to get the word out that COVAC has made changes and continues to make changes and adding new positions to better the organization.
