In the wake of civil protests following the murder of a 22-year old innocent girl, Mahsa Amini, at the hands of the Iranian regime, the students and the citizens have been asking for justice, women’s rights, and an ordinary life. The regime’s armed agents have been brutalizing, suppressing, and blatantly murdering these protesters. Most recently, they have attacked the Sharif University of Technology and have beaten, shot at, and apprehended a large number of students.

Every human should stand for and assist those who seek freedom, justice, and equality. In this specific case, the students and the Iranian citizens are merely asking for an ordinary life with the slogan of “Woman, Life, Freedom.” The Iranian regime is violently attacking the students and the unarmed citizens for only demanding their fundamental human rights and standing by the Iranian women, who have been most ostracized by the regime.

With the surging number of murdered citizens, it is time for everybody to stand by their fellow human beings. It is plain and simple, university campuses must not be brutally raided by armed thugs and government agents. It is imperative to show that the world is watching, and injustice and oppression will not be tolerated. We, the academics, scientists, educators, and technologists categorically condemn the oppression and violence against unarmed students of Iran who wish for a better future.
