Why this petition matters

Started by Lydia Wakelin

Harrison is a 6 year old little boy from Newcastle under Lyme and has had cerebral palsy since birth.

I am constantly battling to get essential Physiotherapy and essential equipment for him. My son and lots of other local children with physical disabilities need these to keep them healthy, avoid deformities and unlock their full potential. I truly believe that every child matters and every child in the UK should have the same quality of care, regardless of their post code.

Newcastle under Lyme is part of North Staffordshire. My son does not get any physiotherapy unless he has a procedure such has botox injections or hamstring lengthening, which we are trying to avoid. The whole point of the therapy is to minimise the need for more surgery. The offer from the wheelchair service and orthotics are also poor and having a detrimental affect on his physical health.

If we lived in Stafford, which is 35 minutes away, we would get a better service. This is happening all over the UK and it shouldn't be the case.

I urge you to please sign this petition and help all children with disabilities to get the same quality service they deserve, regardless of where they live.

I would also like to read your experiences regarding these services and anything that you can do help would be much appreciated.
