Over-ride decision regarding candidacy of Kidney Transplant

My name is Danielle Gauvin, and I am the daughter of the said candidate for kidney transplant. My mother Katherine Steinberg has been in contact with a 41 year old man who is suffering from Polycystic Kidney disease and is in desperate need of kidney replacement. Katherine has gone into the decision to donate with the support of her family and doctors approval, yet Katherine gets interviewed for twenty minutes over the phone with a psychiatrist that does not know Katherine. Based on this conversation this doctor feels it would be better if the recipient does not receive this transplant just because the candidate is Bipolar. We need to over-ride the decisions made by this doctor, so that a life can be saved. I feel that this is a serious violation of Human Rights due to basis of discrimination of disability, and I feel, as a Human Rights Advocate, that the decision to save a man's life is based on discrimination of Katherine's disability, is against the law, for one, and a violation of Human Rights. The decision to save this man's life should not ever be determined based on a person's mental health. If you feel the way that we do, please sign below and circulate amongst your friends so they may sign as well.
