On February 24, Russia invaded Ukraine. It is the biggest war in Europe since World War II. More than a million refugees have fled the territory of Ukraine, cities are under constant aerial bombardment, and the country is on the brink of a humanitarian disaster.

But Russian aggression is not limited to ground or air operations. The war of the 21st century is a hybrid war. Russia’s military aggression is taking place in cyberspace as well. Russian IT workers have been offered bonuses and deferment from military conscription if they agree to take part in the confrontation on the cyber front.

Hundreds of companies have already announced that they are no longer cooperating with the Russian Federation. Many websites are restricting access to users from Russia. Limiting Russian users’ access to StackOverflow is critical in the face of upcoming cyber attacks.

This measure will help secure Ukraine’s infrastructure and government sites. This measure could save lives.
