Let Lexy Walk
This petition made change with 555 supporters!
After respectfully tweeting her opinions on St. Mary’s High School’s values, Lexy Irvine was told she would not be walking at her graduation on May 26, 2018. She explained that St. Mary’s continuously prioritized their sports program over their educational facilities and faculty. Though she remained cordial and factual throughout her tweets and essay, St. Mary’s still plans on barring her from proudly walking with her class.
This teaches students their opinions don’t have real meaning, and image should be maintained over honest accountability. Freedom of speech is a proudly held American value. Barring Lexy from walking only encourages students to hold their tongues.
Singing this petition indicates you stand with Lexy and her right to speak freely upon her beliefs. Please share this petition so we can hopefully get her walking on Saturday!
See the attached image to see what she wrote. We have also included a link to a CBS13 article with her perspective on the situation.
