We want your committee to reconsider the new rules.

I normally don't have a problem with following rules but when a cemetery tries to tell you how to honor your loved ones... It may just have to be one rule that gets broken. My Grandparents are buried in St. Mary's in SGF and the new rules have me and my family furious. As many others in this cemetery my Grandfather proudly served as a New York State Trooper for many years and out of respect for a brother the Trooper Foundation has placed a flag on his plot. However, now with the new rules, only American Flags can be placed on the plots. If it wasn't for the men and women who have served for their country in one way or another there would be no America and therefore no American Flag. Please don't get me wrong I'm not discrediting the American Flag by any means but I think it's ridiculous that this cemetery won't allow all kinds of flags no matter what color. A cemetery is a place for family and friends to go to honor their loved ones in whatever manner they wish if it's placing flowers, benches, flags, photos, stuffed animals or whatever. It should be respected and accepted. I can promise you this... if my Grandfathers flag is removed I will kindly and respectfully put it back. He deserves to have that flag blowing in the wind over his final resting place as much as the person with the American Flag does. He was proud to have served and no one will ever take that away from him.
