St Louis City Officials: FIND THESE CRIMINALS AND BRING THEM TO JUSTICE

On the afternoon of May 15, 2012, Stray Rescue staff was notified by the police that a dead dog was hanging out of a second story window. Founder Randy Grim and rescuer's Donna and Emily responded and found an unforgettably gruesome scene. Not only were five dead dogs in the house, including the one hanging out of the window, but the dogs had been tortured. As if ripped from some sort of shocking horror film, they had truly been through hell.

In a house littered with gang graffiti, rescuers found chains and electrical cords used to restrain and strangle dogs. They found skeletal remains of a dog who had been choked to death, and a trail of dried blood that led to an area where a dog was burned - more than likely alive. Furniture was stacked upon more furniture over the body of a once living being, who had also been strangled with a cable cord. The lifeless body of the dog seen through the upstairs window was draped over the window sill. X-rays taken as part of the necropsy report revealed traumatic trauma to the larynx. Stray Rescue veterinary staff believes that this was caused by the abusers positioning the dog on the window sill and slamming the window down upon him repeatedly, crushing his larynx and killing him.

One witness in the area, who wishes to remain anonymous because they are afraid of the gang who committed the abuse, reported a sixth dog who was lynched, having been hung out of a window. This dog has not been recovered.

Absolutely no living being deserves this kind of unspeakable treatment, and those who did this deserve no better. Three police officers stood by, as well as city employees, who were there to board up the house after the dogs' bodies were taken in hopes that this torture chamber would remain closed permanently.

There should be NO REASON for these unspeakable, horrific, and absolutely immoral actions against innocent lives to have occurred. Efforts need to be doubled IMMEDIATELY to find these criminals, bringing them swiftly to justice. Additionally, the penalties for animal abuse MUST be made greater and upheld.

I just signed the following petition addressed to: St. Louis Metropolitan Police Dept, Mayor's Office, and City Officials.

----------------
NOTE: We understand that Darick Dashon Stallworth is now in custody and being charged with 3 felony counts and 2 misdemeanor counts of animal abuse and neglect, however, with the information provided by law enforcement officials, those living nearby, and bystanders, there was a significant amount of traffic in and out of that unit for over a week while the acts were being committed. Those that new about this act and did nothing should ALSO be charged in addition to anyone else interacting with Darick, in this unit, during this time. This petition is not just to find and prosecute those who committed the acts, but to also find and prosecute those who were physically around Darick during this time, in this unit. ANY of these people that were in contact with Darick Stallworth, during this time, in this unit, could have stopped this torturing and murdering from happening. They are just as much to blame.

By allowing those that chose not to act to move on with their lives (more than any person can say for those 5 innocent animals) it only sends a message to them and the rest of those watching this case unfold, that allowing abuse to happen through inaction is acceptable and can continue.

Or, perhaps you are okay with "people" such as Darick, torturing and murdering you or anyone else you may know, while others, who could have stopped it, sit idly by. If that is the case, please let the citizens of St. Louis know, so they can next time, vote for humans to take office.

Absolutely no living being deserves this kind of unspeakable treatment, and those who did this deserve no better. These animals were bred to be abused, tortured, and savagely murdered. The crimes committed against them surpass some of the most barbaric crimes that many of the most well known serial killers have committed. Years upon years of continued inaction by the St. Louis city officials allowed the unspeakable acts committed at 5321 Wells Avenue.

St. Louis city officials have an obligation, through it's hardworking, taxpaying citizens, to ACT immediately. Efforts need to be doubled to find these criminals and bring them to justice. Additionally, the penalties for animal abuse MUST be made greater and upheld.
