Bring The Music Program back to St. John the Baptist

Two years ago, our music teacher transferred to another position within the school board, resulting in the loss of a very successful music program at St. John the Baptist.
The benefits of learning music are well documented as research has shown that it nourishes self-confidence and creativity, and has an overall benefit to all other areas of the curriculum. Though classroom teachers have take over teaching music in their own rooms, a specialist music education teachers bring a wealth of knowledge and proficiency that a generalist classroom teacher never could. They are able to help their students master instruments and vocals, provide increasingly complex understanding of music theory, and foster a life-long love of music.
At present time, there are tens of thousands of dollars of music equipment (a class set of guitars, brass and woodwind instruments, percussion instruments, etc.), purchased over the years by our Parent Council that now sit a closed classroom. St John the Baptist has the equipment and the space required, but we need a teacher to bring music back to our school.
We respectfully request that the music position be filled again, so that our children, and all of the students at St. John the Baptist will continue to enjoy the enormous benefits of a structured music program in our school. Music has the potential to bring about profound change in our children, and we wish for the opportunity to bring that gift back to all of our SJB students.
