Current SJC Virtual Schedule is Not Working

Current SJC Virtual Schedule is Not Working
Why this petition matters

Initially, SJC established synchronous and asynchronous class schedules. As time progressed and the work load became more rigorous, teachers began to ignore asynchronous days completely, with many classes meeting Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday for the full 40 minutes, and sometimes exceeding that time. This became too exhausting and ineffective for students because there became no breaks in between class meetings, with the exception of the 10 minute break in between classes. The monotony of classes are draining, and adds to student's lack of motivation during this unprecedented time. A solution to this problem could be to create a block schedule. For example, periods 1-4 could always meet synchronously on Monday's and Thursday's only, while periods 5-8 could meet on Tuesday's and Friday's only. This could help eliminate burnout, as students could practice better time management and have more free time, and it would increase teacher's lesson planning time.
