Save Penney Crescent Wetland

We are residents who are deeply concerned by the adverse affects of a new proposal before the City of St. John's for a 95-house development behind the area of Penney Crescent in the East End of St. John's. This area has been designated by the city as a SIGNIFICANT WETLAND since 1993.
Local residents have not been sufficiently informed of the plans to develop this area, and many are concerned about the implications of this proposal.
Developing this environmentally important wetland would have many adverse effects on the local area, including destruction of wildlife, a gross increase in water pollution (especially in the Virginia River water) and air pollution, as well as significant impacts on water drainage and water pressure.
A PUBLIC MEETING regarding the proposal will be held on: Tuesday, August 8th at 7PM at the Foran/Greene Room, 4th Floor, City Hall
Please sign our petition to be presented to Council at this meeting-- Help us keep this important wetland GREEN!
DETAILS of the proposal can be found here: http://www.stjohns.ca/sites/default/files/CSJ_FileUpload/Planning/synod%20West%20Wetland%20LUAR.pdf
