St Francis Xavier College is currently proposing to remove the name of one of the schools living treasures. A significant founding father of the school who had the extraordinary vision, dedication and passion to create the school that stands today 42 years later.

SIGN THIS CHANGE ORG PETITION to STOP the changes to lose the heritage and recognition of our Founding Families of our school and losing their legacy forever.

The Living Treasures of the College are Des O’Connell, Des McKenna, Sr Mary McCarthy, Sr Rosaleen McCaffrey, Sr Mary Jenkins, Msgr John Gallagher, Carmel McKenna, Maureen McDonagh, Aiden Burns, Robert Schneider, Trevor Wilson, Terry Synan and Vicki Clark.

WE as current or Alumni students, families associated with the college either past or present, and/or members of the local community and regional area say NO to this proposed change of any college house name.

WE state collectively that we disapprove of this proposal.

WE state collectively that it is not acceptable to remove the legacy from St Francis Xavier College of any individual or family associated with a house name. 

WE do not agree that any of those families or individuals who had the incredible faith, passion and dedication to create St Francis Xavier College as it stands today will have their names removed from the current existing college house names.

WE request that the college preserve and retain the legacy for all those families, and individuals, and that their names will endure and be preserved in history, for all past, present and future generations of students of the college and that all house names are retained indefinitely.

The organisers of this change petition are not linked to any living treasure individual or their family, nor have we been asked by any third party to start this change petition.

We are two Alumni students (Class of 1984) who believe strongly that this proposed change is not acceptable. We have the right to voice our concerns, this is our heritage and our school that shaped who we are today.

The motto of St Francis Xavier College is "Via Veritas Et Vita"

These individuals, the living treasures, scarified all, as they followed the example set by the man of Nazareth, who was the Way, the Truth and the Life.

That was exactly what these living treasures and individuals Des O’Connell, Des McKenna, Sr Mary McCarthy, Sr Rosaleen McCaffrey, Sr Mary Jenkins, Msgr John Gallagher, Carmel McKenna, Maureen McDonagh, Aiden Burns, Robert Schneider, Trevor Wilson, Terry Synan and Vicki Clark were to us all now and always.

May their legacy live on.
